Airfare to HHI
Ok, have to vent. I am trying to get to HHI in September so my son can see the turtle hatchlings. He wants to touch one. Soooo.... trying to find airfare to get us to the island as there is NO WAY I am driving myself and a 5 year old 10-12 hrs by myself. Of course, I can't find airfare for less than my mortgage and it's driving me nuts. September starts hurricane season, one would think I could find a deal. If anyone out there sees a deal, please post. Willing to fly into Columbia, SC, Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Jacksonville, FL, or even Hilton Head. (Yes, HHI has an airport. It's great if you don't mind flying in a 25 seater.)

Find a good nature-loving friend who'd be willing to drive with you to see the turtles! Gosh, if I wasn't already helping a friend move her son to NYC in August, I'd even beg to go! I wanna touch a turtle, too!
I agree with Cat - get a friend or try driving in the middle of the night. He'll sleep most of the way and you won't have to rent a car when you get there. It's really not a horrible drive. I go to Atlantic Beach in NC which takes about as long, the night thing works for me and there's less traffic.
I guess the problem is that I hate to drive more than 4 hrs. But if a friend helped me that would for sure make it easier and more fun. But, now it looks like I will be teaching on Friday nights so the trip may be completely out for Fall. Thanks for the comments!
